I have
been clubbing since 2000,
with Middlesbrough's Sugarshack
being my "home"
of clubbing. Music and clubbing
are easily my main passions
in life (alongside football
of course). I am now a regular
still at the Sugarshack
and Tall Trees as well as
travelling the country Clubbing.
I was into Trance music
in my last year of school,
but did not purchase any
decks until I started college,
of which had no Pitch Control
on either Deck!!! So I taught
myself to beat-match using
the superb control of my
hands!! Haha, which you
can imagine was very difficult
at times...I eventually
ended up spending every
bit of money I received
on vinyl, at the time mainly
trance, and clubbing.
I realised I wanted to make
a go of DJ-ing in late 2000,
when I really started to
concentrate on it, buying
more and more vinyl, and
changing my style to harder
music. Just seeing DJs like
Fergie (Trade Sets), Paul
Oakenfold, Lisa Lashes etc
every weekend and noticing
how much fun they were having,
and making people happy
ina club (which is where
I am happiest) was enough
for me! SO, I bought a better
set of decks, MORE vinyl
and watched mates of mine
who were already quite technically
gifted for the amount of
time they had had decks
and tried to pick up tricks.
During free lessons at College,
I was straight on the decks
in the music department,
where a local DJ helped
me and mates learn to beat-match
perfectly. I read about
DJing, and found out how
I could beat-match without
touching vinyl thus making
the mix sound much clearer
and much more.
Now I have had my first
few tastes of DJ-ing in
a club/bar, and seeing people
dance to the music I'm playing,
I've got the bug!
I have
only recently started playing
out in bars and nightclubs.
Played my first set b2b
with Andy M playing Hard
Trance at XS at Middlesbrough's
Arena, and we impressed
a lot of people! Currently
in a DJ Competition at Pacific
in Middlesbrough, and flew
through to the next round,
so watch this space :-)
